Dearborn, MI, Oct. 24, 2011 -

The American Arab Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 19th Annual Building Economic Bridge Banquet successfully Friday, October 21, 2001 at the Henry in Dearborn. The dinner attracted a sold-out crowd of hundreds of participants, including CEOs, elected officials, community and business leaders, members and supporters.

"The banquet was an overwhelming success. We thank our partners, Ford Motor Company, Comerica Bank and DTE Energy, corporate sponsors, members, volunteers and everyone who attended the banquet," said Fay Beydoun, American Arab Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. "The success is a strong indication of the business community's support for the chamber, and the generous support of our sponsors contributed to the success of the banquet."

The Chamber awarded its prestigious Bridge Builder of the Year Award to Jamal Daniel of Texas and Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon. Mr. Daniel is President and Chairman of Crest Investment Company in Houston, and founder of the Levant Foundation, a private, non-profit organization committed to the furthering the interrelations of Judaism, Islam and Christianity. Sheriff Napoleon has dedicated more than three decades to law enforcement and serving the Wayne County community.

Speakers include Allan Gilmour, Wayne State University President; John Moran, Managing Director of Overseas Private Investment Corporation; Leslie Smith, General Manager of Tech Town and Deanna Richeson, Managing Director of the Export Office at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. They discussed Michigan's Economic Future and the role that universities and government agencies could play to spur economic development in a competitive global environment.

American Arab Chamber Chairman Ahmad Chebbani and Executive Director Fay Beydoun outlined the chamber's goals and projects to ensure that the American Arab community flourishes and its entrepreneurial spirit prosper. The Chamber has held various successful events during the past year that have contributed to regional growth and hosted and led business delegations that have helped strengthen the ties between the United States and the Middle East and promote exports of Michigan products to the MENA region.

Attendees were able to network and make important business connections with some of the area's most prominent businesspeople and decision makers.

Once again, we would like to thank our partners, sponsors, speakers, awardees, members, media, attendees and Hype Athletics student advisory board and the rest of the volunteers for a great banquet.
